How many pets can you have?

If this pic is anything to go by then you can have as many as your heart desires. Here we have a team huddle midway through an afl game. This was just one huddle. There were just as many on the other team. And that was b4 the party! My eldest turned nine on sat & the word had sure spread as to what her heart desired.. There are very many little pets in our house now. And the good thing... They're small!

I'm struggling under the weight of kids art work - my two produce new masterpieces at an alarming rate!  What do I do with it all - too much of a sentamentalist to throw it all away.  Any ideas about keeping it under control would be very welcome.

Lazy Days Hat

Just returned from Queensland after some serious rest and relaxation and some very Lazy Days!  There is nothing that quite beats reading a book on the beach, under the warm rays of the sun - whilst the kids frolic in the waves without a care in the world.

Lyn has just whipped up this gorgeous hat from Make It Perfect.  Perfect for a little boy!  It's reversible and for a bit of a challenge - I gave Lyn this striped fabric to see how it worked in a hat form.  Pretty good I think!  Light colours are great for hats as they reflect the suns rays and this light tan colour is perfect as it will hide at least some of the dirt that seems to follow a little boy around!  At the end of the day - it can always go in the washing machine!  Well done Lyn!

After school fun!

We took a heap of these

And look what we made...

We even fussy cut the little bird out of a left over scrap of fabric - he only just fitted!  Isn't it cute?

We did a yo-yo for another (but had to cut a hole in it to get the band in - so I'll report on the fraying)

So now we have planned - hairbands made out of school summer dresses that are too small, ones from our favourite fabrics and colours.  And Miss Moo decided that we needed one for each lolly bag for everyone coming to her party - preferably with their initial on it!  That will require some delving into the scrap bag - good job they are quick!

At $2 per button they're not bad when you are using up scraps of fabric!

Here's a cute little lady bird (sorry she's out of focus!)... aggh these are getting addictive!

Yay! It's Friday - that means...

• a glass of wine
• sitting by the fire (almost on top of it!)
• muddy knees after auskick
• time to bake
• dinner with friends
• Bjorn again with the girls including my 8 y.o.
• walks in the cool air with the kids on scooters racing into the distance on the bike path
• Plotting my sewing for the weekend
• a sense of calm before the week begins

What a lot to be thankful for!

PJ day at school!  Lazy Days...

For the boys...

Have you seen this months great Homespun with patterns for "the kids".  I really loved the rocket bag on the front cover, and I have most of the fabrics (or very similar) so happy to make up kits for anyone interested!

I also loved the American Jane fabrics in the "blocks and blocks" quilt pictured...I have many simliar American Jane fabrics so this is also a kit possibility...again send an email if you're interested.

Check under your muffin tins...

Have been very distracted from the shop by birthdays and halloween parties.  Made 76 cupcakes in the space of a week,  this doesn't include the 24 tragic cupcakes.  Opened the oven to find 24 beautifully golden and risen cup cakes, but also a strong smell of plastic and yellow goop on the floor of the oven, turns out that some Magnetix had attached to the base of the muffin tin, so my poor tragic muffins went straight into the bin - couldn't risk plastic poisoning of the kids school mates!

 

So the morale of this tragic tale is .... check under your muffin tins!
